A Class Septic Services installs and repairs septic tanks, drain fields, pump and aerobic systems around Milledgeville, plus the clearing, grading and trenching for them. The city sewers its core; lake lots on Sinclair's Baldwin shore and rural parcels outside the lines use septic permitted by Baldwin County Environmental Health on Ireland Drive.↗↗

The Milledgeville story
Milledgeville is the largest city on Lake Sinclair, even though most of the water lies up in Putnam County. Sinclair Dam, north of town, stands about 100 feet high and 2,800 feet long and backs the Oconee River into 15,330 acres and 417 miles of shoreline through Baldwin, Putnam and Hancock.↗
Most of the city's lake traffic heads out North Columbia Street, which is US 441. Little River Park, with its campground and marina, sits off 441 between here and Eatonton, and a few miles on, US 441 and GA 24 cross the Little River arm into Putnam on the Donald Ridley Bridge. The county plan expects most new commercial growth along that same 441 corridor toward the lake.↗↗↗
Baldwin's 2023 plan describes the Sinclair shore as residential lots packed densely together, with lake frontage at a premium. Narrow lots are where septic gets hard: a tank, a drain field and a 100 percent repair area all have to fit between the house, the neighbor's well and a shoreline the state and Georgia Power both measure from.↗
More about Milledgeville
Many Sinclair houses sit on lots that border Georgia Power project land, and the company's dwelling guidelines read like a septic checklist. The system, including its repair area, has to sit entirely on the leased lot outside the project boundary. If it will not fit, Georgia Power says the house should be modified.↗
Before it reviews a new house, Georgia Power wants a site plan showing the county-approved tank, drain lines and well, the septic permit, the building permit, a land-disturbing permit if more than an acre is opened, and a count of trees four inches or larger coming out of the building and driveway footprint.↗
The shoreline setback is the number to pin down first, because Georgia Power's own documents disagree. The Sinclair dwellings sheet says 75 feet for all new construction, decks included; the combined Bartletts Ferry, Jackson and Sinclair guidelines say 50 feet, with 75 feet and FERC approval for houses that cannot clear the boundary. Confirm with the Lake Resources Office at 125 Wallace Dam Road in Eatonton before anyone stakes a footprint.↗↗↗

Sewer or septic?
The City of Milledgeville serves about 6,500 sewer customers through 233 miles of collection line, all feeding the 10.5 MGD plant on Highview Road. Baldwin County Water and Sewer handles county connections from 1601 North Columbia Street.↗↗
Out at the lake, the small subdivision water systems the EPA lists for the Baldwin side, such as Meriwether-Golden Pond, Lands End and Baldwin Forest, have no public sewer on record. Plan on septic there unless a utility tells you otherwise in writing.↗

Soil & terrain
Baldwin County straddles the Fall Line. North of town, toward the lake, it is Piedmont ground: the map unit at the city's center is Wilkes soils on 10 to 25 percent slopes, rated very limited for septic fields, with dark red Davidson clay common on the ridges. South of Milledgeville the soil turns to deep Lakeland sand.↗↗
For lake lots that means shallow soil and steep grades, which is why so many Sinclair systems end up with a pump tank pushing effluent uphill to the one patch that perks. On the sandy south side the question is the opposite one: sand drains fast, and the separation to groundwater does the work.↗
